Game Art Props

Here are a couple of game art assets that I've been working on as of late, a crate and some architectural elements for a level with a quick point light setup. Will post more work later.

WWI Infantry Soldier - 3D Character Model

Here I've modeled a WWI Infantry Soldier Character. The base meshes were created in maya, and the sculpting was done in Zbrush. The low res is about at 15k polys. For now I think I'll leave him in this state and work on another project.

"Zorgx" Alien Diplomat - Character Sculpt

Here is some recent work--a concept character bust of an alien based on a concept art piece that I did earlier. Sculpted in Zbrush from a Zsphere using Dynamesh. Textures and render soon to come.

Character Sculpt - Super Vegito

Here's some Tpose WIP shots from my entry in the dbz fan art challenge at Zbrush Central. From here I intend to pose my character and introduce some shading/lighting for the final render.

For Super Vegito here I used maya to construct some of the base meshes, as well as Zbrush for some base meshes as well using dynamesh, and Zbrush for high poly sculpting.

Zbrush sculpts

Here are a few sculpts in Zbrush that I did recently for some practice on form and anatomy. For reference images I used mostly casts and sculptures. The head of the old man in particular was from an old Roman marble bust.

Elf Low-Poly Game Character

Getting in another April update, here is a low-poly elf game character that I created for an art test. The basic concept for the character isn't my own. I was given a 2d concept art image, and I modeled, uv'd, textured, and rigged the character, and lastly animated a walk cycle. The character is under 600 triangles, and consists of 1 512x diffuse map.

Monster/Alien Bust Concept Art

These were painted in photoshop at about 30 min. each where I experimented with different character types of monster and alien concepts. I intend at some point to use a few of these concepts as a base for some high poly 3d sculptures in Zbrush.

Cavern Troll Concept Art

Here are a few process images for how I usually create a concept character piece. It's my take on a popular fantasy character, the troll. First I started with a traditional pencil/paper thumbnail sketch then translated it to digital via photoshop and sketched over it. The next image is the value painting where the form is refined in gray scale and the lighting is decided upon and blocked in. Lastly I used some color overlays and further rendered it to eventually create the Final image.

Dragon Concept Art

Here some quick dragon sketches in photoshop where I've experimented with a few different types and builds of dragon/reptile, some with wings and some without. I wanted to get some sketches down to see if I liked an idea enough to turn it into a 3d model. The concept with the three heads looked like a promising option.

Lycan Game Model

Here's another model I created recently for the Eve of Ebon video game demo work in progress. I first sculpted it in Zbrush using a low poly prepared base mesh, and then when the high poly was finished I retopologized it at about 4k tri's or so. Maps were extracted from the high poly to help create the diffuse map. That diffuse map to be used will be at 1024x--here it's at 512x.

Game models/props

Here are some game models/props that I've been working on lately for the 'Eve of Ebon' video game demo that I've been contributing to here and there. It's a fun project to work on, an old school vampire type of game--great story, and should be a fun title to play when the demo comes out. I tried to keep these props pretty low res within reason, and only one diffuse texture map is used per prop in accordance with the specific style of this game within the unity game engine framework. Maya for modeling and Photoshop for texturing were primarily used, with some help from Zbrush. Renders in Marmoset Toolbag.

Angel Statue - Holy Poly Game Model WIP

I sculpted this model in Zbrush starting with a sphere and using Dynamesh, as well as some zspheres were used for the body base. This is the high poly model, whereby I'll create a low-game res version of it and texture it to be used as an in game prop. More updates to come.

Figure Drawings

Most of these were drawn from life, the first one from photo reference. Digital and Traiditonal medium/charcoal.
